Tour Program

Day 1 — Adıyaman, the Karakuş Tumulus, the Cendere Bridge, the ancient city of Arsemeia, Mount Nemrut, Adıyaman

Our tour begins at midday.
First, we visit the Karakuş tumulus, known as the ‘women’s tomb’ of the Kingdom of Commagene. Following the guided commentary here, we visit the Cendere Bridge, a Roman structure. You will be amazed by this structure, which has stood for centuries. Here, we also admire the water flowing through the gorge before continuing on our way. Our next stop is the ancient city of Arsemeia. We visit this site, which held great religious significance for the Commagenians. We examine a relief depicting Heracles and Antiochus. Mysterious tunnels and an inscription written in cuneiform capture our interest. After the guided tour, we set off to climb to the summit of Mount Nemrut. After completing our ticketing procedures, we begin the climb up to the tumulus. Following a 20-minute climb, we reach the summit. First, we visit the East Terrace. Here, we are greeted by colossal statues. After finishing our photographs and the guided tour, we move on to the Western Terrace. Here, we watch the sunset alongside the statues. As the sun sets, our tour draws to a close. Our return journey begins.
